of Edward Putnam (2161) and Roxanna Davis. He was born in Lowell, Mass. and was
there in the 1850. He was here in Center Harbor in 1880 with Mary. He and Mary
are still here in 1910, and are in Sterling, Worcester County, Mass. by 1920.
ARTHUR W. (WRIGHT) PUTNAM Laconia, Belknap County
He is
41 VT Jun 1858 and is living with his wife Lizzie L. Pinkham 41 NH Feb 1859. He
is a son of Horace Cummings Putnam and Olive Wright. He was born in West Fairlee, Orange County, Vermont. He was at home there in
1860 and 1870. He married Lizzie here November 29, 1893. The whole family was
over here in Nashua in 1880, his mom died and his dad and sister are back in Fairlee, Vermont now. He and Lizzie will be here in 1910
and 1920.
DAVID PUTNAM Conway, Carroll County
He is
52 NH (actually MA) Jan 1848 and is living with his wife Hannah Towle 52 ME Mar
1848 and daughter Cora 11 NH Mar 1889. He will be here in 1910 and 1920, and
then state MA as his birthplace. He married Hannah A. Towle here in New
Hampshire on September 29, 1889. She was previously married to a Parsons. Best
thought is he is a son of Hervey Putnam (2363) and Amanda Bunker of Danvers. He
was home through 1870, and in 1880 was single in Winchester, Mass.
MINNIE PUTNAM Keene, Cheshire County
She
is 23 VT Jun 1878 and is living with her brother in law Frank L. Lawrence. She is the daughter of Robert and Addie
(Smith) Putnam from Windham County, Vermont. Frank married her sister Ada
A. Putnam in 1895. Their folks are in Springfield, Vermont now.
AMOS A. (ADAMS) PUTNAM Winchester, Cheshire County
He is
76 NH Apr 1824 and is living with Maria Snow, age uncertain. Been around all
his life. Maria is his daughter Nancy Maria Snow who would be 50 NH now. She
was living with Amos and his wife Nancy Robbins here in 1880 as well. No hubby
has appeared.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Cheshire County
He is
45 NH Apr 1855 and is living with his wife Ina Lucy Bement
40 VT Apr 1860 and children Florence G. 15 VT Jul 1884, Emma Frances 14 VT Mar
1886 and Harold 10 VT May 1889. He is a son of Edwin Lombard and Emeline Putnam
of Hinsdale, Cheshire County. He was at home there in 1860. In 1910, he will be
alone in Hood River County, Oregon. Ina will be in Brattleboro, Vermont living
with her mom Cornelia Bement and will have Frances
with her then. At that time she says she is still married (27 years by then). In
1910, Harold will be with his grandmother Emeline Putnam also in Brattleboro.
By 1920 She and the kids will still be there, and no Arthur. Arthur will have
married Nellie Austin and they are in Glendale California in 1920 and Los
Angeles after that. Arthur will die there November 12, 1954.
ARTHUR PUTNAM Walpole, Cheshire County
He is
39 NH Nov 1860 and is living with his wife May Franklin 32 NH May 1868 and sons
Harry 10 NH Jul 1889 and Philip 5 NH Mar 1895. He is a son of Henry Dismore Putnam and Adeline Reed from Acworth, Sullivan
County. He is also presently listed by himself in Windsor County, Vermont. May
will die in 1908 and he will be widowed in Rutland, Vermont in 1910 with Philip
and another son Edmund. The son Harry will be married to Grace Merrill in Park
County Wyoming in 1910 and then back here in Epping, New Hampshire by 1920.

Putnam and Emeline Smith. He was home here in Winchester in 1860.

son of Jacob Putnam (1690) and Lucy Brooks. He was born here in Walpole. He and
Clara are both here still in 1910.

and she and the kids will be in Keene in 1920 though, and she is widowed there
in 1930 and 1940.

60 MA and is enumerated with William J. Martin as a boarder. This is interesting. In 1870, he was married to an Emma in
Springfield, Massachusetts. She is alone in Springfield from 1880 through the
1920, but never has Julius been reported there. Anyway, Julius is a son of
Horace Putnam (2175) and Clarinda Boice from
Springfield, Mass. Julius is in Swanzy, Cheshire
County in 1910.
JAMES A. (ALBERT) PUTNAM Winchester, Cheshire County
He is
32 NH Sep 1867 and is living with his wife Myrtie E. Rawson 26 NH Jul 1873, son
Frank Amos 4 MA Jan 1896 and daughter Dorothy J. 2 NH Dec 1897. He is a son of
James Putnam and Martha Jane Whipple. He and Myrtle were married here on
February 27, 1894. He was born here in Winchester. In fact his folks are listed
next. They will be in Stafford, Connecticut in 1910 and in Pittsfield,
Massachusetts in the 1920 census.

Lyman are sons of Eri Putnam and Lucy Holton of Winchester.
MARIA J. PUTNAM Cheshire County

is Maria Johnson Mayo and is 65 MA Nov 1834 and is living with her children
Etta J. 32 NH Jan 1868 and Lorenzo A. 29 NH Jun 1870. She is the widow of
Lorenzo Augustus Putnam. He was a son of John Putnam and Sarah Priest Capron.
They were here in 1870, and just over the border in Winchendon, Mass. in 1880
and now back where they started. Her daughter Etta will be married soon and she
will be with her back in Winchendon in 1910.

brother. They were here in 1880. He is a son of John and Rebecca Putnam of
Lunenburg, Essex County, Vermont. Julia is widowed here in 1910.

59 NH Jul 1840 and is living with his wife Josephine O. Hedrick 59 NH Nov 1840.
He was here in 1880 with his first wife Carrie Smith who has died. He married
Josephine here in 1887. He is a son of John Adams Putnam from Enfield, Grafton
County.

Hannah Cole, widow of Alonzo Putnam (2754). They have spent most of their lives
here in Haverhill.

the 50s. He is a son of John Putnam and Sabrina Wiley. His wife Jane Weston has
died. Kinda sounds like this is the Old Folks Home for the County.

30 VT Oct 1869 and is living with his wife Lena Melvina Dustin 21 ME Mar 1879,
sons Walter S. 3 VT Mar 1897 and George E. 8/12 NH Oct 1899. He is a son of
Stephen Putnam and Ascha Wheeler from Newbury,
Vermont. They'll all be here in 1910 through 1930.
MARY R. PUTMAN Haverhill, Grafton County
She
is Mary Rebecca Reding 57 NH Jan 1843 and is enumerated with George H. Stevens as
a boarder. She is the widow of George Frederick Putnam. They were in Warren in
the 1870 census, and here in 1880. She will be in Portsmouth with her widowed
sister Ellen Brattles in 1910 and die there April 10, 1912. Never had any kids.
NANCY PUTNAM Grafton County
She is
87 NH Jul 1813 and is living with her son Wallace 68 NH Jun 1832. She is Nancy
Hussey, the widow of John Adams Putnam Junior of Lebanon. Wallace John is a son
of John Adams Putnam and Nancy Hussey. He was born June 4, 1832 and will die
here in Enfield March 24, 1910.
ROBERT J. PUTNAM Grafton County
He is
23 VT Feb 1877 and is living with a bunch of other lodgers. He is a son of Joel
Babbitt (2685) and Harriet Putnam of Windsor County, Vermont. This is up in
logging country.
W. (WILLIAM) PUTNAM Grafton County
He is
50 NH Jul 1849 (actually 35 NH July 1866) and is living with his wife Alice F.
Temple 50 VT Jan 1850 (actually 42 VT). They are here in Lebanon in 1910, but
he says he is 56 then and Alice 55. Anyway he is William H. Putnam a son of
William Dinsmore Putnam and Elvira Sartwell and was
at home in Charlestown in 1870 and 1880. He was born in Charlestown July 16,
1866 and will die in Bellows Falls, Vermont January 26, 1965. He married Alice
Foster or Temple April 16, 1894 in Hartford, Connecticut. She was married twice
before and will die March 25, 1916 in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
ANN PUTNAM Manchester, Hillsborough County
Ann Perkins
is 72 CAN Jan 1828 and is living with her daughter Sadie (Sarah Frances) and
her husband Henry E. Hardy. She is the widow now of James Franklin Putnam. They
were here in Manchester in 1880, Hookset before that. Ann is here still in 1910
at age 82.

Rosabella M. Franklin 30 NH Oct 1869. He is a son of
George Franklin Putnam and Abby Hunt Partridge. In 1880 he was with them in
Derry, Rockingham County, a few miles south of here. Probably came up to work
the mills here.

Lorinda French from Cheshire County. He was there in 1870 and here in 1880.
They are here in 1910 and in Merrimack in 1920 and 1930.

listed is Cathy Hill 35 NH Feb 1865. They are two unmarried daughters of Barnes
Putnam and Sarah Dean who divorced back in the 1860s. They have been here with
their mom ever since. Sarah died since the 1880.

Anne Mae 13 NH may 1887. Ella Agnes Nichols is the

son Fred is here in town too. She will be widowed in
Boston in 1910 and in Braintree by 1920.

son of Charles B. and the above Ella Putnam and was born here. He will be here,
divorced, in 1910 and by 1920 will have a new wife Elsie and a couple of kids.

Sarah Barnes, and was born in West Nottingham. He was in Amherst, Hillsborough

NH Jun 1899 and mother in law Susan M. Pond 72 NY Mar 1828. This was a sloppy
entry. The guy's name was Mark Perley Putnam, his wife’s name is Eliza Pond. He
is a son of Amos Putnam and Deborah Hill of Milford. He was married to Nelly
Heath in 1875 and widowed here in Nashua in 1880. He married Laura Pond in the
early 1890s and then Ann Elizabeth Pond after that. Eliza will be widowed here
in 1910 and will have Jennie with her.

58 NH Apr 1842 and is living with his wife Dora Tarbell 47 NH Dec 1852 and
children Dora A. 22 NH Oct 1877 and George W. 17 NH Feb 1883. They were here in
1880. He is a son of Amos and Dorcas Putnam of Wilton. They are all here in
1910, and in 1920, Dora and her daughter Dora Arlene are in Groton, Mass. Young
Dora will have married Frederick Bishop in 1907.
RUFUS PUTNAM New Ipswich, Hillsborough County

and son Daniel E. 36 NH Sep 1863. They were here in 1880. He is number 2040, a
son of Aaron Kimball Putnam, and was born in Wilton. He married Mary in 1861.
Rufus will die here May 25, 1909, and Mary on August 7, 1915. Daniel will be
married in 1912 and will be here with a family and his widowed mom.
WARREN P. (PRESCOTT) PUTNAM Wilton, Hillsborough County

55 NH Feb 1845 and is living with his wife Helen W. Merritt 55 MA Mar 1845. He
is a son of Sewell and Hannah Putnam from here in Wilton where he was born. He
married Helen here in 1874. They are here through the 1920 census.

8 NH Aug 1891 and is living with Chauncy A. Adams. He is single in Pepperell,
Massachusetts in 1910. In 1920, he is in Cheshire County. He is a son of Levi
Hildreth Putnam and Lydia Swinington of Milford. His
mother died and his dad is widowed here now. Probably kinfolks of sorts.

Whitney is a daughter of Richard Harris Whitney and Nancy Flagg. Augusta will
be a 'matron' at St. Paul's Prep School in Concord.

a music teacher and says she is married for 7 years. In 1910 she will be here
with her husband, William E. Putnam.
BYRON PUTNAM Lyndeborough, Hillsborough County

60 NH Jan 1840 and is living with his wife Mary Emily Crane 56 ME Aug 1843 and
daughter Frances 19 NY Dec 1880. He is a son of Ephraim Hildreth Putnam and
Susannah Ford. He was born in Lyndeborough January 8, 1840. They were in New
York in 1880, but Frances was born after the 1880 census. He married Sarah
Carley of Petersham, NH in 1859. She died in 1893.
Emily is a second wife. They were married in Fayette, Maine on February 20,
1895. Byron will die here March 24, 1905, and Emily will be widowed and back in
Fayette by the 1910 census.

a boarder with James O. Carr. The writing and spelling is off as usual. She is
Edith Minnie Putnam a daughter of Fred Brooks Putnam and Elizabeth Frances
Putnam and was born June 21, 1882. She will soon marry Norman Biddin March 3, 1901 and they are with her folks in
Worcester in 1910. Her folks are listed shortly.

where his family is and, in 1930 be with his brother Edward in Kansas where he
will remain.

of the Concord, New Hampshire factory—including those bought by Wells Fargo

adopted son of Lorenzo Perry Putnam. Perry had married Lucy Harris in late 1849

their child. He changed his name to Putnam. His death certificate in Boston in
1903 states his parents were Joseph Bean and Lucy S. D. Harris.

Emma McIntire. Their dad was single in Windsor Vermont in 1880 and then married

their uncle. Elmore was a son of Dexter Buckley Putnam and Abigail Wiley from
here in Sullivan County. Also here is Abbie McIntire 58 NH and single. She is
listed as a sister in law and is Harriet’s sister. Anyway, Dean will be getting
married in 1919 to a Canadian gal, Esther Lemmon Shedd, go to Canada and then
be in Lynn Massachusetts in 1930. Earl and Samuel will be married here in 1910
through 1930. Minnie will marry Edward Eames here in Claremont October 31,

here March 5, 1889. In 1920 he will be in Windham County, Vermont with a new
wife, Mary L., and a son, Prescott C. born in New York in 1906. Don't know when
Nellie died, or when he headed to New York or when he came back east to
Vermont. In 1910, Hazel and Prescott are in Broome County, New York listed as
‘boarders’ with Mary Jameson and no relationship is shown. She was widowed
herself and looks to be the gal Willie will marry and take to Vermont with him.

1843, so the age here should be 66. At any rate this is him. He was in
Springfield, Vermont in 1880, and in Mansfield, Bristol County, Mass. in 1900
at age 55 VT. He will be in Merrimack County by 1920.

the same time frame and they are in Springfield, Vermont and also were in 1920.
Roscoe will marry Velma Pearson in 1938. She died in 1950 and he married
Flossie French in 1956. He will die in March 1993.

He is William Arthur Putnam, and was born there July 13, 1879 and shown at home
in 1880 and was married in Francestown in 1910. Been some problems in this
family. In 1910 most of these kids were with a relative. Notice the 10 year gap. They may have been separated or something. They
will be getting divorced soon as by 1930 William will be married to Mary St.
John and they are in Deering, Hillsborogh County.
Now, little aside from the year 2002. The son, Harry James, was (in 2002) the
oldest resident of the town of Francestown, NH at age 94. Worked on motorcycles
all his life and right now is doing just fine. Hasn’t ridden a bike since 1984,
but sure misses it.

1913 and will die in Temple, Texas May 27, 1972. He will marry Dorothy Hazel
Fannie on June 25, 1935 in Chesterfield. Richard will be here again with his
mom in 1930.

1910, but guess he is back here retired. Ed Putnam found this article: “EDWIN PUTNAM served in the U.S. Navy, September, 1862, as
assistant postmaster; served during the Civil War on Monitor Nahant in naval
attacks on Charleston, South Carolina, and capture of the Confederate ironclad
Atlanta, in Wassaw Sound, Georgia, and during latter
part of the war on U.S.S. Portsmouth, Adm. Farragut's W. Gulf Fleet; in charge
of U.S. naval depot, St. Paul da Loanda, Africa, 1868-69; on duty on various
ships and at various stations, as pay officer and general storekeeper,
1870-1902; he retired September, 1902, for age limit, with the rank of Rear
Admiral, U.S.N. He was stationed for many years in the Portsmouth and
Brooklyn Navy Yards. Residing in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.”

here. Handwriting again may have made the G like an S. But John married in the
1880s, was gone, but left a son with his folks in 1900. Looks like he headed
west and was in North Dakota in the early 1900s, and was in McLean County North
Dakota in 1910 and back here by 1912. He’ll have a couple more kids here
through 1924 and then have a daughter in Montana in 1926 and be in Snohomish
County Washington by 1930. Couple of coast to coast
round trips. Wonder where they’ll be in 1940. Traveling is in their blood. I
have an obituary on the daughter Stella. When she graduated from high school at
age 18 she literally hiked from Washington to New York. She later was an
officer in the Audubon Society and hiked and camped most of her life. She was
in all sorts of wildlife organizations. She lived in Seattle most of her life.
She married Judge John Frost who died in 1941. She later married a Russian
immigrant Roman Porubov. She died December 19, 1994
in Seattle.

ORIN (ORRA) PUTNAM Croydon, Sullivan County

30 NH and is living with his mother Lucy Russell 71 NH. His was listed here as
Orra in 1900 with his folks Otis Winter and Lucy Putnam. He was here with his
widowed mom in 1910. In 1930 he is here married and again listed as Ora H. The
name is Orra H. and he was born here October 5, 1888.
ALICE S. PUTNAM Goshen, Sullivan County
She
is Alice S. Barrett 58 VT and is living with a boarder Annie P. Rich 78 MA. She
is the widow of Edward Putnam who was here with her in 1900
CHARLES G. PUTNAM Grantham, Sullivan County
He is
44 NH and is living with his wife Eleanor Cassandra Welch 38 NH, children Floyd
W. (Ward) 18 NH, Clayton O. 17 NH, Marion E. 16 NH, George G. 14 NH, Galen E.
10 NH and Eunice E. 6 NH. He is a son of Charles E. Putnam and Sarah Graves. He
was here at home with them in 1900. They were married in Lempster in 1910.
ALBERT H. (HUBBARD) PUTNAM Newport, Sullivan County
He is
53 VT and is living with his wife Catherine Scully 55 MA, son Carlton 16 RI and
a boarder. They were in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1900 and were here in 1910.
They are in Claremont in 1930 and he’ll own a fish store there. He is a son of
Gorham H. Putnam and Helen Rice from Springfield Vermont.
FLORA J. PUTNAM Newport, Sullivan County
She
is 55 VT and is living with her son Clayton R. 32 NH. She is Flora Jane
Houghton, widow of Freidel S. Putnam. She was widowed
here in 1900 and 1910. Clayton was just married here in 1910, but I guess
something happened. He will however be in Cleveland Ohio in the mid 1920s,
marry a girl named Nina there in 1927 and they are there in the 1930 census.
OLIVER A. PUTNAM Unity, Sullivan County
He is
50 NH and is living with his wife Susie Janette Harrington 50 NH and son
Charles H. 26 NH. They were here in 1900 and 1910. He is a son of Charles
(2608) and Sarah Putnam out of Charlestown. Oliver was born June 18, 1869.
Susie was born September 4, 1869, a daughter of Asa Harriman and Eliza Bowen.
Eliza is a Putnam too. They were here in Unity in 1900 and 1910 will be in
Claremont in 1930.
